Group 1 Session 1
A stolen Pitcher, a borrowed Wagon
The time for the Clansmeet has arrived.

Players serving Arthwyndar Clan leader of the Swift Wing Clan and the Canori of the Clanwealds. They are tasked with keeping the peace. In the afternoon they happen across a boy fleeing a pack of wolves across a field. Once the heroes finish with the wolves they corner the child to learn more of what transpired in the wood. The child is evasive, and his clever lies prevent the heroes from learning the truth, it is not until an old man arrives, walking briskly from the wood towards them that they find that the child has stolen a silver pitcher from the druids grove. They return the pitcher to the druid who introduces himself as Rylourn and leaves. Stanley pursues to get information for a book and Rylourn promises to meet him at Hillhaven during the Winter Solstice.

Moments later Arthwyndar finds the party and informs them that gnolls were spotted south of Hillhaven past Peddlers Bridge. The party, disguised as a drunken band of travelers borrow a wagon from a Coh-nu and head down to where the gnolls were spotted. The gnolls take the bait and attack, only to meet a swift end. Alek finds tracks leading into the hills that may lead to more gnolls.

The party uncovers a +1 Challenge Seeking Longsword (AV2) named “Fangmeet” and a pair of Burglars Gloves +1 (PHB) along with 12 ears fit for returning for a bounty. 10 gold per ear.

So far Cutie-pie is unharmed.

Group 2 Session 1
A Dusty March

The party arrives from Leneasa with other members of the 4th legion in order to reinforce the 2nd legion garrison at Hostshield. After arriving they are delivered a brief speech from Ser Alister Courdane, who then dismisses them to rest and eat. Unfortunately the party stumbled into a bit of trouble in the tavern, but managed to square it away and look good in front of Ser Alister to boot.

Ser Alisterthen sent them on a mission with a dozen or so other groups under the cover of darkness to root out the orcs spying in the hills about the Hostshield. After a treacherous climb in the rocky hills outside of the city the party found the cavern they were directed towards. Inside they stumbled across a trap and a few groups of orcs. They cleared out the entirety of the cavern before returning to town where they were congratulated and sent to get some rest before the day ahead.

Group 1 Session 2
Poison, poison everywhere...

Following the tracks left presumably by the gnolls the party found a cavern hidden in a valley not but an hours hike from the road. Inside they encountered many gnolls who protected the cave with their lives. Unfortunately not even two dozen gnolls were enough to keep the adventurers outside. The party forced their way to the center where they found a swift-running underground stream clogged with dozens of corpses. They also found a wretched poison brewing in a cauldron over a fire. Cornelious swiped a sample before the party poured it outside. Sprocket made it a point of moving each of the bodies out of the stream so that they might not pollute the water any further.

The party also found a note in Abyssal which they brought back to Ardwynthar. Apparently it was a letter from the Red Fists demanding some sort of service under threat of death or exposure of the gnolls operations to the Clanwealds. The Red Fists have yet to arrive at the Clansmeet this year, and Ardywnthar made it clear that they will have much to answer for.

Group 2 Session 2
The Westerclans Assault

The party is awoken at an early hour to help complete preparations for battle within the Hostshield. Lieutenant Katrianais quick to put them to work. After a few hours of difficult labor with a magewright a good portion of the western wall is repaired and should be servicable once more. Good thing too.

Dinner is a sober affair with little rejoicing at the thought of the incoming horde. After, Ser Alister Courdane delivers a rousing speech that seems to restore vitality to the army, who drink and make merry with what time they have before the battle.

As the light of day begins to fade, and the sky darkens with clouds the horns of the orckin army can be heard. First waves of orcs run at the walls with ladders and climb over, only to be struck down and slain by the party. An arcane ballista lends much assistance during this phase, keeping the enemy archers under heavy fire.

The third wave contained a hill giant pulling a siege tower. Archers atop the tower rained arrows down upon the party, but they persevered, and even managed to slay the giant before it wreaked too much trouble with it’s boulder-hurling. Then a pair of orc shamans arrived and concocted a dark ritual on the highest level of the siege tower, with their deaths sealing the pact they summoned forth a terrible creature of shadow and death which quickly turned the tide against the party. With quick action the party began chipping away at the creatures defenses, and the ballista was turned to fire upon this giant creature instead. Even still, Oakblade was brought low, just as Lieutenant Katriana and an attending cleric arrived.Katrianadove at the creature, turning its attention long enough for the party to finish what it started.

After the creature was slain Katriana took up the banner of Tormandir and cried for Dawn and Blood, demanding a charge against the hated orc, who was at that point in mass retreat.

Group 1 Session 3
Arthwyndars Fall

It was Corin who was concerned first with Arthwyndars disappearance. After summoning the party to him he sent them off to locate Arthwyndar’s place of respite outside of Hillhaven. Along the way their journey was interrupted by a pair of drow sword-maidens and a pair of orcish rogues who were dealt with quickly before reaching Arthwyndars camp. Sprocket, Cornelious, Stanley and Prunella explained that they thought that bringing the treason of the Red Fists up before the Clansmeet might be problematic.

Arthwyndar grudgingly agreed to allow them to investigate the Red Fists. Unfortunately the party never got the chance as the Red Fists had arrived back in Hillhaven hours before they did. Zane made it known that he had arrived to ArthwyndarArthwyndar and inquired as to when the Clansmeet was set to occur and was informed that now that the Red Fists had arrived, things would begin shortly. Prunella has a strange revelation, that the Red Fists have a larger presence than any of the other clans.

Cornelious and Stanley spoke with a few Red Fists and determined that their caravan was attacked by gnolls. Naxus sought to collect bounties on what appeared to be the ears of gnollish younglings. Meanwhile PrunellaPrunella and Sprocket spoke with Corin. He explained that the Red Fists had arrived less than an hour after the party was dispatched to locate the Canori and that they apparently had been attacked by Gnolls. Corin relayed that he wished that Arthwyndar had agreed to meet them in the field.

Later that night the Clansmeet is held, and all the clanlords are represented. ArthwyndarArthwyndar begins with introductions, but is quickly cut off by a biting accusation from Zane that the Canori had failed to protect the Clansmeet which was clearly evident due to his Red Fists being attacked en route. Arthwyndar looks for support for his claim of coercing with gnolls to destroy the Clanwealds but little mercy is found among the other Clanlords who seem to believe this is some ruse used to cover Zanes accusation. Arthwyndar, eventually realizing he is bereft of evidence for his claims agreed to duel Zane for leadership of the Clanwealds in the arena.

The arena battle is intense, but in the end even though the party bravely met and defied each of Zanes bodyguards, Zane himself managed to puncture the armor ofArthwyndarshauberk with some strange device, killing him instantly. The party is left to deal with the consequences of crossing Zane, the new Canori of the Clanwealds.

Recap

With Arthwyndar dead the Swift Wings were set into disarray, and only barely managed to escape through a fortunate turn of events involving fire and wind. After passing through the jails and beneath Hillhaven the party made for the town of Whitecrest, the stronghold of the remaining Swift Wings power.

Upon arriving they found a distraught CorinCorin trying to round the people up to head west, away from the inevitable war that will encompass their city. Stanely, among others argued that were allies to be found that a fight could be made against the Emerald Thorn, the Screaching Hawks and the Red Fist. Corin grudgingly agreed, and sent them to speak with North, who they managed to stir up the best way they knew how. From there they went to speak with a wizard named Kleid, who had his own views of their recent imbuement.

The Tormandirians fled the castle of Hostshield gripping a letter from their dead commander, Ser Alister Courdane. Their every step a constant struggle while trying to reach the civilized lands further east the party fought their share of foes. Eventually they reached Westbrook and had a short respite from their troubles abroad. For that night soldiers of the 7th legion arrived in order to capture them, resulting in a large battle where many powers collided and dealt considerable damage to the life and property of many of the townsfolk.

After making their amends with the constable the party proceeded east. Later to be attacked by a group of smiliarly imbued folks, designated as justicars and ordered to mete out punishment against those who would use their powers for evil. All but a rogue and a warden named Manderlay were slain, the last two were let go.

That night Nefflin, a small flying book arrived to deliver grave news. A great and powerful mage named Cypranostros had passed during his pursuit of a great evil named Cre-Thuul-Uus. The book goes on to explain that the plane on which they reside is a prime staging ground for wars between devils, demons, elementals and other dangerous extraplanar beings. Five seals protect it from unauthorized entry, and Cypranostros was supposed to protect them all. Now that he had died, it was up to the imbued, of which number nearly 100 throughout Dorinea. With this cryptic information, Nefflin offered to provide instruction on the use of Imbuement powers. A harrowing engagement with the elements ensued, leaving both groups weary, but better prepared than before.

Group 1 Session 9
Holdout at Drellans Tower

The party arrived after a half days march in the Lowlands west of Whitecrest. Here they found Drellans Tower, a crumbling, abandoned guard station of some ancient kingdom. They also found a gnome resting here from his trip from Farfield. Not long after the initial exchange of pleasantries, a pack of gnolls howl their challenge as they near the tower. Using what limites resources they have at hand the party blocks off a major approach to the tower, there they fight a large pack of gnolls, killing each of them after a long and bloody assault.

After taking a short break the party decided to head further along their way, only to be stymied by a mysterious half elf who seemed to be frightened of a woman in a house nearby. A woman who allegedly stole her brother and child away. The woman fled deeper into the woods when questioned further.

After making camp, Cornelious voiced his concern that the woman may have been telling the truth, and that by waiting for dawn that someone could be harmed. Something they could perhaps avert. Stanely seemed not to care and let Cornelious and Kaze go scout on their own, though they returned soon thereafter with news of a peculiar whispering that seemed to echo throughout the woods, or their minds. The cabin itself was apparently empty.

Raid Session 1
The Storming of Shantinn

The city of Shantinn was saved after a prolonged series of skirmishes against orcs and gnolls representing the Red Fist, and later men wearing tabards and surcoats of 7th Legion soldiers of Tormandir. In the end, the groups together managed to protect the seal from Katriana the Red, who narrowly escaped.

The drow sage presented an alternative to protecting the seal, instead offering the option of harnessing the power for themselves. The imbued cared little for the offer, and let him slink away, barely alive.

Working together under the direction of Nefflin, the imbued were able to restore the Shantinnian seal’s protections.

The forces of the enemy have retreated to lick their wounds.

Brief recap of events

Group 1: Heroes of the Clanwealds

The band of Arthwyndar’s men, along with a few adventurers from other clans having escaped Shantinn find themselves in the mountains between the Red Hand territories and Shantinn along a sanctioned trade route between the two peoples. There they smashed a Red Hand garrison that watched over the pass and encountered a band of men wearing the symbol of the Shantinnian guard one of whom they recognized; Coh-nu of the Brazen Fire clan.

Is the Silverfinn Mine a key component of the troubles in the Clanwealds, or is it merely a distraction when the real fight is at home in Whitecrest? Will a Canori of true worth ever again sit in the Halls of Hillhaven? What precisely is the Shantinnian King’s role in all of this? Will the Black Stags and Tinhammer’s arrive in time to protect Whitecrest from the legions of the false Canori, Zane? Surely there must be one wise enough to provide clarity in these matters before time runs out.

Group 2: Champions of Tormandir

The weathered soldiers of the 4th legion having returned from their strange journeys abroad to Tormandir were sent by the King to quell a Fey rebellion in the west which they discovered had been orchestrated by Chulchunnad, the elf who had aided in the taking of Fort Nostlaug a few weeks earlier. After an initially terse meeting Chulchunnad explained his intention to capture Orlan Cale, the son of Lord Elwyn Cale of Rivercross. It is Chulchunnad’s hope that he can use the son to force Elwyn Cale to hand over the control of the city back to the Fey, or the King directly. Working alongside Chulchunnad and his Wreathguard they manage to capture the lordling before he harmed himself.

Can the Kings forces from Forgehammer protect the realm from the steady advance of the 7th legion from the west, and why is this insurgency of such importance in the Kings eyes when the 7th legion pose such a larger threat? Did Balasar throw himself to the dragon, Korithrax or did he slip away to save his own hide? When will the reckoning of Katriana be at hand, and what mysteries died with Sir Alister Courdane?

Dorinea:

The world seems disquiet and a tension is mounting, like the eve before a terrible storm. Beasts are scarce, and have taken to hiding in their dens even during the days which seem to be turning darker by the hour. The world waits with baited breath for whatever will come next.
